Damascus Middle School Holds Eighth-Grade Class Night
On Thursday, May 24, 2018, Damascus Middle School held its annual eighth-grade class night during which seventy-four students were recognized for the completion of their middle school education. These students will be dearly missed at DMS. They were a strong academic group, as noted by Mrs. Mossholder’s comment that “they came to [her] with strong SOL scores, which allowed [her] to be able to teach the Math 8 and Algebra I SOLS that [she] needed to teach,” but more importantly, they were a civic-minded group of students who were well-behaved, kind, and friendly to others. Mrs. Doss noted that “the students would inquire about your day and wish you a good one,” something everyone who taught them appreciated. Several students were recognized at class night for exhibiting these wonderful characteristics. Noah S. received the Civitan Award for citizenship, Audra H. and Haley M. received the George Hall Award for academic excellence, and Rodney R. received the Justin Foundation Horizon Award. The Damascus Middle School faculty and staff are proud of each student in this class for their many accomplishments and wish them well as they enter Holston High School in the fall!
