Damascus Middle School Seventh-Graders Attend Careers Expo

On Wednesday, September 26, Damascus Middle School seventh-graders attended the United Way of Southwest Virginia's Careers Expo for Youth.  The Careers Expo for Youth is one component of the United Way's Ignite Program for Youth and takes place during the month of September at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Over 4,400 seventh-grade students from eighteen different school systems participate in the event over a two-day period where over seventy-five different careers are represented with hands-on activities and demonstrations. Students enjoyed participating in activities, from climbing a utility pole with Appalachian Electric Power to providing a newscast with WCYB, and they gained great exposure to regional careers that are available to them here in Southwest Virginia.
