Damascus Middle School Student Receives Pullet Project Prize

Damascus Middle School seventh-grader Noah S. was recently recognized as Overall Pullet Champion for his 4-H Pullet Project.  According to Mrs. Crystal Peek, 4-H extension agent, the Pullet Project gives members the opportunity to start their own flock of egg-laying hens.  Noah began this project in April, keeping meticulous records of his work with his five chicks as they grew.  In September, his project was awarded Reserve Grand Champion at the Washington County Fair.  His careful record-keeping and participation in the fair earned him the distinction of being named Overall Pullet Champion from among thirty-eight participants.  He received $25 and a silver tray, as well as the joy of raising his chicks!
