Damascus Middle School Students Awarded in 4-H Presentation Contest
Sixteen 4-H members from Damascus Middle School recently competed in the annual Presentation and Public Speaking program. Each contestant had five minutes to complete his/her oral presentation or illustrated talk with points awarded in seven areas, including appearance, introduction, subject matter, presentation, summary, achievement of purpose, and answering questions. The 4-H Presentation program is targeted to build self-esteem, communication skills, and leadership while giving members a chance to explore their own interests and hobbies. DMS students demonstrated a variety of interests, from tips for personal appearance, to prop design, to engineering a model car from an old drill! The following students were awarded blue ribbons: Matthew B., Ashley D., Walker H., Bryce L., Israel P., Jaycie P., Peyton P., Lucy R., Alex S., Sophie S., Levi S., Amanda S., Martina S., Isabelle S., Boone T., and Mia T. These students may represent Damascus Middle School at the Washington County Activity Day on April 6 at Abingdon High School!
