Damascus Middle School Students Enjoy the Washington County Fair
Each year, students throughout the county look forward to the second week of September and the Washington County Fair! This year, students had an exciting opportunity to participate in the parade on the first day of the fair, and eighth-grader Grace C. and sixth-grader Haydin N. represented Damascus Middle School. Several of our students submitted winning entries in various categories of competition throughout the fair. During the School Day at the Fair on Friday, September 14, Dustin S., Claire H., and Maggie M. performed in the Talent Show. Dustin sang one of his favorite country songs, Jamey Johnson’s “In Color,” in a duet with his cousin, Holston High School student Madison B. Claire and Maggie performed a piano duet, playing “Phantom of the Opera.” After the fair was over, seventh-grader Ashley S., an avid reader, was surprised to learn that her entry in the duck race, earned through submitting her summer reading log, won in her division, and her prize was a giant teddy bear! The Washington County Fair provides our students with so many ways to get involved, have a good time, and demonstrate their skills and talents!
