Damascus Middle School Students Learn about Career Choices!

Mrs. Jackie Morris, Career Coach and Career Investigations Teacher at Damascus Middle School, organized a College and Career Night for students and their families, held on Thursday, March 10. The evening began with delicious barbeque prepared by In the Country and funded by the VHCC Foundation.  During the session that followed, Mr. Bo Catron, VHCC Career Coach, shared his advice that “College is not for everybody, but training beyond high school is,” and encouraged students to explore their career options.  Mr. B.K. Walker, guidance counselor at Holston High School, talked with the students about course offerings available in high school and the many benefits of the Washington County Community Scholars Program.  Mr. Brian Johnson shared the many career paths that may be explored at the Washington County Career and Technical School.  Combined with the various career exploration opportunities Mrs. Morris has given Damascus Middle School students during the past three years, this evening helped our students make informed choices about their future.
