Damascus Middle School Students Selected as DAR Essay Winners

Two Damascus Middle School students were selected as winners in the Black’s Fort Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution American History Essay Contest!  This year’s topic was about the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted all American women the right to vote and hold elective office.  In their essays, both DMS winners, Isabelle S. (seventh-grade) and Addie W. (sixth-grade), develop female characters who experience this monumental event in American history. The lives of these fictional women are impacted in many positive ways.  Isabelle and Addie are equally appreciative of this change to our constitution, as before 1920, neither of them would have been able to look forward to voting in elections or being elected to an office!  Congratulations to these students!
