DMS Gifted Students Build Robots
Students in the gifted program at Damascus Middle School recently participated in a robotics unit during an after-school meeting. Students were given choices of robots from the OWI Company, which included a water-powered car, a solar hopping frog, a robotic arm, a line tracker, and a voice-activated beetle. They began assembly during the meeting, completed assembly on their own, and brought the robots to the next meeting for demonstration. Some students loved this opportunity to “do something different, something [they] had never done before” and others, like Jackson W., had worked with robotics before and “would like to expand this project into a competition robotics team.” DMS Gifted Coordinator is Rhonda Mossholder.
