DMS Seventh-Grade Students Tour Amazon

In addition to learning that Amazon Fulfillment Centers are not arranged in any order at all (a surprising fact to learn about one of the most efficient companies in the world), students learned about the amazing use of robots in the process. Robots move throughout the warehouse, bringing items to the picker instead of the picker moving around the warehouse to find the item. Students also learned how packages are boxed and prepared for shipping. Since the tour was live, students had the opportunity to ask questions. Mrs. Kimberly Holmes, DMS guidance counselor, facilitated the tour and offered students a chance to win an Amazon gift card at the end of the tour. Brodie Richardson was the lucky winner! This was a wonderful experience for DMS students and hopefully sparked some interest in this type of career!
