DMS 4-H members recently competed in the "Dramatic Reading" contest. Twenty-one members from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades performed pieces from their choice of literature. Each participant was given 2-3 minutes to read from his/her favorite book, story, or poem. The youth were awarded points in the following areas: introduction of the piece, tone and emphasis, speed and rhythm, facial expression, and body language.

4-H club sponsors and members' families coached the students for this event. The purpose of the dramatic reading program is to build better oral language skills when communicating with a group. The blue-ribbon winners will represent DMS at the county competition in March.

Blue Ribbon Winners were as follows: Jude F., Collin C., Albert H., Chloe R., Remington R., Carter S., Lucy H., Kinzley D., Selah J., Gabby L., Harper M., Bailey W., Lily D., Avery R., Maggie D., Layla F., and Elli W. Red Ribbon Winners were as follows: Paige D., Dallis G., Tristan M., and Landen W. Congratulations to everyone on an outstanding performance!
